B and O

Elonna…sorry I can’t help with L & N info, but you might have a better chance of feedback if you post your question as a new topic, such as “L & N modeling advice requested”, or something.
best regards \ Mike

The B&O controlled the Alton during the 1930s.

I would like to know if B and O passenger train were ever green. Maybe a Army green? I grew up in a little town in Ohio in the 50’s and thought i rember seeing one at the train station . I joined a rr club here in Tn. and we are going to do a lay out in the 50’s and I would like to do a passenger train . Any ideas ? Thanks . Baby b

babyb, I think some B&O passenger trains were green at one time. This color preceded the more familiar 2-tone blue & black with gold trim that is usually associated with the B&O. Most models of B&O passenger equipment that I’ve seen come painted in this livery. I’m not sure when the green cars started disappearing… may have been in the 1930’s?

Several companies have models of B&O passenger cars… Walthers, Branchline (kits) and Bachmann Spectrum to name a few. The Spectrum cars are a bit problematic… issues with the wheels and couplers (been there, done that!). Walthers and Branchline are probably the best bets in plastic cars but are a bit pricey. I think IHC also makes B&O passenger cars and locomotives but I can’t vouch for the running qualities.
