Great pics, much better represenation that the ones in my B&O 2nd Qtr Sentinel. Maybe they’re hoping for age to weather the layout, seems a bit too pristine for me.

Thanks, I highly recommend the visit. Made my day for $14.00 (includes short train ride by SW7).

Next month, May 2005, the new Car Restoration Shop opens & accessed via the train ride.

The collapsed roof damaged many engines and cars. One car repair estimate was $1Million. Some VERY STRANGE engines in there

including a Camel with cab on TOP of the boiler (forgot about tunnel clearance?).

Special note: The Smithsonian display on loan has the best models I’ve ever seen in 40 years of MRR.

B&O Railroad Museaum, Baltimore, MD, models on loan from the Smithsonian:

These are scrathbuilt models that look like they took a lifetime to make.

Are any of these the models the ones built by Mel Thornburg in 1/4 or OO scale during the 30s,40s,50s? He was commisioned by the B&O to build a certain number of models per year of a specific prototype, past or present for display use despite the fact they ran like swiss watches.

If I remember correctly, CMR here in Baltimore. You can see pics on thier page at www.cmrtrain.com, and http://www.cmrtrain.com/B&O.html The engines were donated through Anthearn. They did some really nice work with the space they have IMHO.

Thanks for the pictures. I’m going to be in Baltimore on 5/27 for the reopening. I was there 25 years ago or so and I’m really looking forward to seeing it again. What can you tell me about Ellicott City? is it worth the trip? Are there any model railroad clubs in Baltimore that you would recommend? I thought about the BSME and Sverna Park clubs.
