B&O VN Tower demolished

How’d it get in such a sorry state after 20 years of disuse? Looks like it has been empty and neglected for several decades longer.

That’s to bad that a lot of the railroad towers are being demolished. Most of them should be preserved.

Another icon lost. It does take money to preserve them. Living in Vermont, Florida, and Montana, no one contacted me to help. Of course, Ohio is a very ‘different world’. Almost as scary as Illinois or South Dakota.

Rather than blame “Ohio,” perhaps we should consider that part of the reason that Nova was neglected and left to rot was that several other successful tower preservation efforts had sprung up in the Midwest, including towers at North Judson, Griffith, Connorsville, and Terre Haute, Indiana; Bradford, Cincinnati, Brady Lake, Marion, Grafton, Leetonia, Orrville, and Toledo, Ohio; and a couple in Illinois. Nova simply lost out from being too isolated for a stand-alone museum and too derelict to relocate.

The roof was not taken care of ,and that was its demise,if you pulled one of the levers the whole tower moved.
Yes Heber Valley railroad took the remaining, levers and what was left of the board,I was told they had plans to build a new one on their site(hopefully).
