Baby Trainmaster parts

I just acquired an undec. Bachmann Spectrum “baby” trainmaster at a local train show. It was still sealed in the box, but when I got it home and unpacked I found that the handrail set was missing!

Now I called Bachmann about getting a replacement set, but I was told that unless I wanted to buy another engine, no handrail set was available, and would not be for the forseeable future. So now what do I do? Any ideas, suggestions, or handrail sets for sale would be appreciated!

Get some athearn stantions & music wire & build your own. Music wire is like about .$15 a 3’ stick so you can have several tries for little of nothing. I have a baby trainmaster on DCC that has been as good as anything else on my pike. I really like it. It heads up my ATSF MOW train. Tweet.

Did you look under the foam or whatever packing in the box? Undec models came with the detail parts in a separate bag tucked somewhere in the box.

Good luck!

As already said, better make some. Spectrum has not had these for at least 4 years.

Bob,

Did all that already! Found the fans, grilles, coupler pockets and those sorry couplers they come with, I also found the instruction sheet and the warranty card. No handrails were to be found.[sigh] Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I guess I’m gonna have to bend up a set. Fortunatly, I’ve got another one here I can use as a template.

I have one Bachmann baby TM, and I broke those cheesy plastic handrails trying to get them off prior to repainting the loco. So I modified some Athearn handrail stanchions and bent some wire to make a better looking set of handrails.

One other thing, Standard Hobby Supply has these units offered for $29.99 ea. I’ve been conteplating getting on just to MU with my other one. One word of caution if your going DCC is they have a split frame electricaly so you have to watch wiring a decoder. I’m pretty sure at that price they are not DCC friendly. Tweet.

P.S.My point was if you decided to get one it would give your something to go by to form an extra set of hand rails. Tweet.

DCC is not difficult for these:

Very very easy DCC conversion. Believe me, It WILL take longer to make the handrails!

I do mine a little differently! http://www.kjbond.com/thelab

[swg]Now that I have heard from you, I took your advice and made my own handrails up with Athearn stanchions and .019 wire. and painted it yesterday, added almost all the rest of the detail parts and decals today, and this week, one evening, I’ll add the rest of the details and assemble and weather the engine… and its all y’alls fault.[:D] I WAS happy to wallow in my discontent with Bachmann’s ill mannered customer service rep, hoping I might find a stray set of handrails. However, after building my own set of rails, I suddenly found the gumption to knock the whiole project out!

Thanks guys!
