[:D]Hello.
I have a Bachman Spectrum 0-6-0 in HO scale, and want to put a decoder in it.
Whats the best way?

I think they have instructions for same.

Jay I know I’ve seen instructions somewhere.
You could try Loy’s Toy’s, or Tony’s Trains. Another site is

Seems to me there is or was a problem with the plug in to the decoder.

Jay,
I assume that the 0-6-0 is the saddle tank switcher. I put a Lenz 0511W in mine about 2 years ago. It was my first decoder install.
The only real trouble I had was getting the boiler off. You have to bend the arms of the crew out of the way to remove the cab.
The loco is “DCC ready” only in the sense that it has a small PC board with tiny solder pads for the decoder wires. No socket! Just tin your decoder leads and then lightly touch the lead with the iron as you hold it on the appropriate pad…
It runs very well when the power pickup is good which can be a problem on insulated frogs since there is no tender. Nigel suggested adding Tomar pickup shoes, which I haven’t done yet.[B)]
