I recently purchased a second hand Bachman 0-6-0 with tender that won’t run. The motor turns but the worm gear won’t stay engaged with the main drive gear causing the wheels not to turn,Has anyone had this problem and know what the fix might be? Thanks
It sounds as if the motor is either loose or misaligned. Check to see if the motor mounts are secure and the worm is in alignment with its gear. If loose tighten the motor down.

If this is the older vintage drive with the plastic frame, you’re probably better off weathering it up and leaving it on a rusty siding. The new 0-6-0 is a much better drive, and you can get it for about $40.
The plastic frame motor mount is notoriously sketchy, it would easily lose its shape, and allow the motor to slop around. This is next to impossible to correct.
You could try sending it to Bachmann wrapped in a $20 bill and see if they’ll replace it under their warranty… The replacement would be the new drive. The main visual cue is the drive rods are darkened on the new version.
