Orange tman,
It ain’t gonna stay at that opening bid. This particular vender had numerous Bachmann 2-10-2’s up for auction and also quite a few “buy now” units at $90.00. The bidding on the auction items usually got within several dollars of the $90.00 buy now items; some of the bidders did do well in the last day or so with some painted/unlettered units going for low to mid $70.00’s. In the last two days the buy now units were all bought. Don’t have a clue as to whether this seller will bring more units to eBay post Christmas to capture some of the money Santa may have left some of the MRR’s out there. Nice volume of sales for this vendor with extremely high favorable feedback. I for one will be checking their “store” post Christmas.

The Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 is a fine engine that runs fine. I have two of them and like them very much.
My concern is the Bachmann supplied DCC decoder. I find them substandart and replaced them with ZIMO decodern. The engines can run very slow now:-)
The same is true for Bachmann sound decoders. I replace them with ESU Loksound 3.5 to get good motor control.
There is a related thread that sparked this engine hunt now we are into a new thread about it.
I agree that the pricing for this engine will go up. I call about 110 dollars or so by the end of the auction.
There is no way a DCC equipped engine will stay at 30 dollars. Just for a decoder that makes DCC work on a engine start at 15 dollars and run all the way past 100 dollars each with sound speakers etc extra.
The bidding history shows people putting high maximum bids and getting broken by those with more money to spend. This one will be a bidding war that will settle very close to MSRP minus shipping charges.
This seller displays uber ratings for the number of sales. You can bet he didnt fall off the turlip truck and understand pretty well what these engines can be expected to sell for.
