Bachmann 2-10-0,disassembly

I have to replace the bulbs in a bachmann decapod and before I start just detaching anything I want to find out the procedure for removing the boiler.I could’nt figure it out from the exploded view drawings. I would appreciate it .

Mike,

Go to Bachmann’s web site. Post your question on the “ask the Bachmann” section of the site. I have had good luck with bachmann loco questions there.

… or send the thing back for warranty. If it’s less than a year old, warranty service is free. Otherwise, they will service anything they have ever sold for a few bucks.

I demolished four old-time Jupiter wood-burning steam engines in a recent move. I sent them in with $15 each and they were REPLACED.

VERY pleased with the warranty service…

I haven’t had to send anything back to Bachmann, but other members of our local HO-scale club have, and Bachmann has replaced every one of them instead of trying to repair them. In your case, since it’s just a burned out light bulb, it might not be worth the cost of sending it back to Bachmann, so I would contact them by e-mail first and see if you can get help that way.

Now, to answer your question, nearly all Bachmann Spectrum steam engine models are assembled and disassembled in the same manner, even their G-scale Consolidation. First, remove the lead truck. There is a screw under the lead truck that fastens the front of the boiler to the frame – remove it. Near the back of the engine, there should be another screw – remove it. The boiler should now come off with careful lifting and prying. As you remove the boiler, watch the pipiing on both sides to see if it needs to be removed as the parts are separated.

THANK YOU…So it is pretty straight foward.I was afraid that with all of the new tooling, they might have changed thier method of assembly.
