Bachmann 2-8-0, adjusting the CV's

At the last trip to my LHS I was told that adjusting the CV’s could make my Connie sound more “realistic”. I know how to access the CV’s thru my Powercab, but don’t know which ones to adjust and to what number. So can anyone help me out? Give me a list of the CV’s you have changed, the values entered, and what each one does? Sorry for sounding dumb. I’m still pretty new at this and don’t want to screw up my loco! Jay

David M. Bedard posted a list of the CVs and their values a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t seen his name on the forums recently, but maybe he’ll see your question and post it again.

Without adjusting CV’s directly you can make your tsunami sound better with one simple adjustment. You can make big difference just by using your Powercab to adjust the momentum, set it to 4 or 5. Now your loco will get louder when you accelerate and quieter when you slow down.

There is an article in the Jan 2009 issue of Scale Rails (NMRA magazine) on tuning steam tsunamis. Also, go to soundtraxx website and download the docs for the tsunamis.

Also don’t worry about screwing it up, you can easily reset every thing by setting cv 30 to 2 and then cycling the power.

Thanks. Hopefully Mr. Bedard is around here somewhere…

…or you could read the manual !! [:)]

The Spectrum engines use a simplified version of the Tsunami, it doesn’t have all the options but it still has a lot of CV’s to look at.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I’m a novice and didn’t realize that this was for adjusting the CV’s. All I had to do was pick it up and read it! DUH!
