I have a repair question. I recently bought a 2-8-4 Berkshire off of an Ebay store. The reverser rod on the left side was unattached when I opened it. The pin is still in it’s socket hole. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix it so it stays attached. And what tools to use to fix it. I would like to try and fix it myself without having to send it in. If it is not an easy fix then I will send it in to Bachmann to try and have them fix it. My nearest hobby store is 3.5 hrs away so no one tell me to go to my local hobby shop.
If you could post a closeup picture, maybe someone could offer you advice on the problem.

I’m not familiar with the Bachmann 2-8-4 but it sounds to me like the mounting pin broke off the power reverse? If so you can make new mounting pin by drilling a hole in the reverser and useing a piece of styrene rod to make a new pin.
Another option would be to glue the broken pin into its hole in the engine then drill both the pin and the reverser to accept a short piece of brass rod, essentialy “pinning” the broken pieces back together.
