I need help in wiring a soundtraxx dsd100lc decoder with speaker to the bachmann 4-6-0. The loco has a DCC plug but the decoder has loose wires to be soldered. DO I remove the board and solder to the wires running tothe main engine(and if so which wires to which?). If I leave the circuit board can I solder the decoder wires to the DCC plug pin holes, using the wiring guide with numbers for the decodeer to equal the pin designations? Anyhep is appreciated!
I am REALLY new at this!
here’s what i did when installing a tsunami . be warned , my wiring was only partly succesful !

Robin, since you are new, you may consider getting a decoder with the NMRA 8 pin plug. No soldering, you simple plug it in and run.

What I did with mine was I picked up an 8 pin plug and soldered the wires into the plug. This way you can unplug the decoer if you wish. I found it easier to solder to the plug instead of to the board socket.
By far the best thing to do is tra***he circuit board. Just hard wire the decoder, its not difficult plus with the circuit board gone you have more room for your decoder and speaker. The DSD100LC is a big decoder so you might need that room to get a decent size speaker inside.
