bachmann dcc

Is anyone currently using the Bachmann E-Z Command DCC system. Is it as easy to program and run as they say it is. I also have read that the NCE sets are also fairly easy to program.

thanks billy

Billy,

Yes, easy on both counts. The Bachman E-Z Command is the easiest to program. Everything is in the manual and the DVD that comes with the unit.

In order to run a locomotive with a E-Z Command, all you need to do is to:

  1. Assign/program a locomotive to an unused address button. (You have a choice of 9 address buttons to pick from. Address #10 is for running a DC locomotive.)
  2. Press the address button corresponding to the locomotive you want to run.
  3. Rotate throttle knob CW.
  4. Locomotives begins to move.

I started out on the Bachmann then bought a NCE Power Cab after a year. The Power Cab is very intuitve to use. The programming is a little more involved but the prompts on the LCD screen walk you right through it.

Billy, if you’re interested, you can read a review about the NCE Power Cab on my web site link below that should give you a better idea what using one is like. When you go to the web site, just click on Reviews, on the left side of the screen. There’s a review of the Power Cab, as well as the NCE CAB-04p throttle and Smart Booster.

Hope that helps…

Tom
