Bachmann EM-1 with sound module

Ya I wasn’t really crazy about the Bachmann sound module either. So I just picked up the Titan this past weekend, with the Articulated sound file.

I just shipped it to my DCC install guy, and he will be installing the Titan by next week. I’ll let you know how it sounds, and make a video when I get it back.

On the factory sound and speaker. Has anyone heard one in person? I am not worried about the whistle being correct or not!

I have seen videos on U Tube, on one the engine sounded pretty good. (One that starts out in black and white) Other one the chuff’s sound like some one beating on a snare drum.

My main concern is there is only one 1 inch speaker in the tender. Does it come in a cabinet? Do any of you know what OHM the speaker is?

I use to like the sound of my BLI steamers with QSI. Then I got the PCM’s (Y6b and Big Boy) and they sounded so much richer than the BLI’s that I pretty much stop running the BLI’s.

I am a few [B] away from ordering one.[:-^]

Here’s a couple of short videos i shot after installing the module.

Thank You CB&O. Best videos I have seen of the engine so far.

Now, are you happy with the sound quality of the speaker in the tender? When you installed the sound chip, did it look like there was room for a bigger speaker? Did the factory speaker have a cabinet?

Thank You for taking the time to post the videos.

Ken

Great layout and nice video with a decent train length for an articulated

Only you should have hit the whistle a few times

As to room for a larger speaker i would have to say theres probably not a lot more room,on the other hand a better quality speaker such as a Hi Bass speaker of the same size should improve the overall sound quality.

I had not yet been able to access the sound files to change the whistle from the default C&S 801 whistle thats why i layed off it in those clips…give a listen below…just hated it [8o|]

Thank goodness thats changed now!!

Hate not being able to just edit a post…Any ways here’s a video of my BLI Y6B with the hooter really blasting when nearing a grade crossing.

now this to my ears is what a hooter otter sound like!!! Tell me if i’m wrong.[:P]

Hum, CB&O, thanks again for your time. Funny thing is I like the EM 1 whistle better, and I have the PCM Y6 B and I don’t like the whistle? Guess it is a matter of taste.

If the EM 1 is 3/4 of the engine as the Y6 B, it will be a good one! I have well over 600 hours on my Y6 B.

Thanks again for your time.

Ken

Although your clip has the "Hoot’ the pich is far too high. The EM-1 was quite low pitched more like a Tug.

You need to get into the clip a bit to the EM-1

This has been my biggest problem w/ the sound thus far, hope that the Tsunami 1000 will have something close. to install in my EM-1

Like I said on the whistle, I really don’t care if it is accurate. I have never heard one in person and never will. I am guessing the main reason the whistle sounds so high pitch is because of the speaker.

Case in point Terry From Texas (member of the site) sent me his Loksound 3.5 decoder from his H 8 a long with its speaker. He did not like the way it sounded, and went with Tsunami. Speaker had no cabinet. Sent the decoder to Ulrich Models and had a Big Boy sound file installed and bought the PCM / Loksound speakers and cabinets. It sound great and good solid bottom end sound! I am very pleased with the 3.5 decoder and I am sure if Terry heard it he would have regretted not installing a better speaker system.
