Bachmann gauge 1, 2-6-6-2T Mallet

Hi ! I’m a greenhorn from the greenfields of Devonshire, UK. Know next to nothing about garden railways and only distant folk-memories of the steam trains of my childhood. But with two highly intelligent young grandsons whose imaginations I have managed to ignite with my tales of watching, for example, a 4-6-2 Gresley Pacific hauling an express service from Edinburgh to London at 120 mph through my tiny local station and practically shaking the stone walls to bits !. Well…they seem to be Very interested, shall I say. ! And with my retirement looming next year, I’m starting along the G-scale road with a long journey and ahead of me…And I’ve just jumped in at the deep end, so to speak…I’ve just bought the Baldwin 2-6-6-2 ! I have no track to run it on, no rolling stock to haul, not even a DCC control unit to make it go ! All I can say is…it’s magnificent ! For the price and all considered, it’s simply superb. At present it sits on my desk on a short piece of rail, looking terrific and awaiting the day I retire to the Isle of Man and build my garden railway.

But…it isn’t a Mallet ! As you probably know far better than me. If it’s chassis layout is to be described as a specific type, from my limited research, it’s clearly a Meyer. I expect to be corrected rapidly by greater minds than mine…

Still, it looks fantastic !
