Bachmann gg1 with sound value, need help

i recieved a new bachmann gg1 with sound value and while it looks and ran great for about 40 mins. It drifted to a stop and stopped running, the sounds, lights still work but no movement at all.

Any thoughts on what may have happened? Could it been the decoder?

Dave

Stupid question: Did you try a decoder reset?

Yep, reset is the first step. After that, if no joy, the orange and grey leads from the decoder to the motor are next, checking to be sure they are connected.

Note that the B-Mann sometimes uses non-standard wiring colors, but look for the motor leads to confirm.

Do you remember if there was a quick short or loss of power? Sometimes that can mess up a decoder programming.

Cycle power after the reset. It should run on address 3.

And yes, Bachmann does not use NMRA colors the last I knew. I have some Bachmann locos. Maybe that has changed.

I looked at a photo of the motor in the Bachmann forums and I think I see orange and grey wires. Not the best photo.

I believe the motor leads face up in the chassis. I just looked at the diagram in the Bachmann forums where there are company reps if interested.

Yes I did do a reset and don’t remember of a short at any time.

Guess I’ll return it.

David,

Sorry to read that you’re having a glitching problem with your GG1. Please keep us posted. I have a Bachmann sound equipped GG1 as well (Brwk Green, single striper) and so far she’s been a smooth runner. Hopefully the issue with your unit may be something simple, like a defective decoder.

Did you recycle the power to the track?

I have read of some who did not do that part of the decoder reset.

Did you try it using just DC? It has a dual mode decoder.
