Bachmann H16-44 shells on Atlas drives - Easy? Tell me it's easy!

I’m really impressed with the performance of all the Atlas N scale locos I’ve acquired, even the older GP40 I have, but my fleet needs a lot of H16-44s, and I haven’t found the Bachmann drives’ low-speed running quite satisfactory.

So, does anyone have experience with replacing Bachmann drives with drives from Atlas H15/16-44s or possibly geeps?

I feel a compulsive need to bump this.

What I’ve found with the newer Atlas N scale diesels (e.g. GP7, GP9, RS-3, RS-11, etc.) is that the shells are easily removed by gently pulling and rocking the chassis away from the shell.

If the Atlas power chassis is not longer or wider than the cavity of the Bachmann Baby TM shell, I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit.

But even if you get it to fit, the Blomberg trucks on the GP7 or GP9 won’t be prototypically correct for a Baby TM. The FM truck sideframes more closely resemble the AAR frames found on Alco locomotives, so maybe an RS-1, RS-3, or RS-11 chassis would be more appropriate.
