Bachmann HO Climax sound decoder?

A year ago I shoe horned a TCS decoder into my Climax and then the new Tsunami Micro decoders came out. I’ve waited for the price to come down a bit and now want to get one and thought where will the speaker go? As a veteran of one decoder installation (and I suspect that was just beginners luck) I have no idea how large or small a speaker I will be able to use. I have looked at the area in the ceiling of the cab as a possible place to mount a speaker. The tender will be filled by the Tsunami decoder and 8 hole plug since it is about the same size as my present decoder. I hope someone can recommend a speaker that will fit under the cab’s roof (and not squash my engineer) as well as produce decent sound. Anyone have suggestions?

hi i am doing the same thing with mine what i found out so far is you got to get the smallest speaker you can find litchflied or tony trains could help here . i was thinking about putting the speaker in front where the smokebox door is and try to do a little fudging with it .or find a shay’s tender and stick in there .this what i did with my shay .

Thankyou for the reply. I have also considered an added tender then saw a photo of an old woodburning Climax in which the fuel area was raised by wooden slats. I think if build such an extension (from stripwood) I could house a speaker in the present tender and cover it with what looked like a full load of firewood applied to the top of a speaker enclosure. I’ll take a look at what Tony’s offers for tiny speakers as you’ve suggested
