Bachmann HO Excursion Car!!!

Holly Cow! http://www.walthers.com/exec/newproducts/ni/200705/Passenger

Is this a dream come true?

Does anybody know if these are modeled after the cars that are at Cass, or are they just a free-lanced car? If they are modeled after the cars at Cass, I’ll have to order at least 20 of the darn things!

Anybody have any connections at Bachmann? Maybe a uncle who is a designer?

Phil

Do a Google search for Bachmann HO excursion car. I did a search and one site says

D&S RR

Cass Scenic RR

and three unlettered versions with three different color schemes.

Hmm. I’m seeing possibilities here of a rebuild into an open-sided trolley car. [:)]

They look like the cars used by the railroads at theme parks (Busch Gardens, Disney World).

The Nevada County Narrow Gauge railroad between Colfax and Nevada City, CA had a number of ‘picnic’ cars that look extremely close to the Bachmann car–they were used in the late 19th and early 20th century for special excursions to a park in Nevada County on holidays. I believe the ‘picnic’ cars had canvas tops, at least from the photos I’ve seen taken by my great-uncle.

But that Bachmann car sure brings back memories of looking at the photos through my great-uncle’s Stereopticon.

Neat car–nice to see it again!

Sorry, I’m not modeling a Kiddie Land theme park.

Now, this is an old thread that I started because I wanted to see Cass Scenic Railroad excursion cars produced.

Although dissapointed, I think these cars are really cool! I will get at least 2 of each scheme.

Aw, It’s so cute !
