I tried this on the layouts side of the house, no luck there. Does somebody here know the answer to my question, which is, what is the voltage of a headlight LED in a DCC equiped Bachmann locomotive. (GP50)
If it’s a white led, it’s around 3 volts. The light output functions on the decoder are at track voltage, so resistors need to be used to bring the voltage down to a safe level.
As stated by “Squeaky”, LED’s come in around the 3 volt range. Check out this site for matched pairs of LED’s/resistors.
