Bachmann N Scale CB&Q 4-8-4 Help

I am trying to detail an N Scale CB&Q 4-8-4 and looked at some photos of the prototype. I found a red signal light and bell that was mounted on the front of the smokebox in some photos. Does anyone know where I can get these items?

Can you refer us to a photo link so we can see what you’re talking about?

CB&Q:

The red ‘signal’ light above the head light on the Burlington O-5 class 4-8-4’s was, I believe, actually an oscillating “Mars” light to make the locomotive more visible at grade crossings.

I don’t know how much luck you’d have getting these details–the Mars light and the front-hung bell-- in N scale, but on a chance you might try either Precision Scale in Montana or Cal-Scale, which is part of Bowser industries. Both carry a great many detail castings for various scales, but I don’t know how extensive their N scale line is.

BTW, that “Burlington” 4-8-4 from Bachmann is actually based on a Santa Fe prototype, but you probably already know that. Good luck on the kit-bash. It’s a really intriguing part of the hobby.

Post some photos as you progress, okay?

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you. You may want to post the question on the Yahoo CBQ group as there is a wealth of specific Q knowledge residing there.
