Bachmann should be releasing this new series pretty soon. SoundTraxx decoder in the tender. The motor is in the boiler. Pictures are at the Bachmann site and the diagrams of the loco parts are in the Parts page. Quite different from the former tender drive version.

Which scale are you talking about? The HO and N are both well known.

Wonder how hard it would be to narrow them to HOn3, as the size would be about right… We’ll let the N3’s take that up. 
(And it being HO puts less stress on my budget.)
The second shot looks like it was cobbled from the old engine for the shot. Just look at the tender trucks between the two. (for one)
The locomotive is too big to be made HOn3.

The small wheels are from the V&T Reno prototype. Strange since the locomotive has never been offered in V&T.

What is very interesting about this loco is the motor.

On this loco, the firebox is between the drivers. There is no room to move the drivers inward for a narrow gage conversion. Well, there shouldn’t be.

If you jump to S or O scale, a narrow gauge conversion might be doable. A big challenge in HO.
That is a tiny motor! Coreless motors continue to get cheaper, so I’m guessing it’s finally cost effective enough for plastic models like this. Kato started using coreless motors recently, and Marklin’s been using them for a long time, so others will likely follow.
I saw the exploded diagram on Bachmann’s website, and it looks like it’s geared down quite a bit, so the speed range should still be reasonable. As well as I have my old 70’s/80’s Bachmann 4-4-0 running, I may consider one of these new ones.
I did some searching and there are a lot of small coreless motors out there.
Looking at the loco diagram, I see the motor worm driving the worm gear on an intermediate shaft. On the same shaft is a spur gear driving a spur gear on a second intermediate shat. Cannot see if there is a small gear on the second shaft that drives the gear on the front driver. I would expect so. I would expect about 50 to 1 gear reduction.
The Bachmann HO 0-6-T DCC has two intermediate shafts and quite nice slow speed.
Years ago I did a loco with Sagami motor and used 45 to 1 from NWSL. The motor had similar RPM. It could crawl very nicely with a pulse power DC pack.
The one with 72 to 1 was awesome.
