Bachmann On30 25127 Christmas Closed Street Car adding DCC

Friends, I have a Bachmann On30 25127 Christmas Closed Street Car that I want to add DCC.
If you have experience with this can you suggest;

  • a decoder that;
  • fits well (possibly describe how and where to mount)
  • is of the proper current for this Street Car
  • has sound capabilities for this era streetcar.
  • can control front, rear and in car lights.
    There seems to very little info on the net.
    This is a great Streetcar for a Christmas village and adding DCC puts it over the top.

The diagram shows it only as DC, not DCC ready.

Isolate the two motor leads from the pickups.

Use 1k, 1/;4 watt resistors for the LED’s.

For the light bulbs, use 22 ohm, 1/2 watt resistors. Light bulbs have surge current when powered up which can shorten light bulb life.

A DZ126 decoder will work.

Some years ago I used a DZ125 decoder in the HO Plymouth, 0-6-0.

This assumes you have DCC install experience.
