Hi guys! I was wondering if you can tell me where I can maybe get a transmitter for the set I just bought. Or maybe someone has one they don’t want? I will pay anything!
Please, I don’t want to sound rude, but I don’t want to hear any crap like they haven’t been made in 10 years or you should not have bought one with out looking for the transmitter. I REALLY do not want to hear it. Thanks and sorry if I was harsh.
First, I thought you made sure this one had the transmitter with it?
Second, by the time you finish mucking around finding the parts to make it work, I am deathly afraid you will be disappointed in the performance.
Do you have the transmitter at all?
Does the engine run at all?
Nothing else works with it I have ever seen.
There are two transmitters.
27MC and 49MC.
The loco number tells you (27 or 9, some 49)
Conversely, if the tag is still there, the bottom of the loco had a tag that told you.
So, finding “a” transmitter won’t do if it isn’t the “right” transmitter.
And it hasn’t been 10 years.
More like 20.
Someone may have an old TX (heck, I may even have one), but whether it works or not is anybodies guess.
Reason I asked about the loco running at all, if the internal circuitboards are shot, no amount of transmitters will help.
Most of the ones I see for sale end up not having the TX or not working at all.
There is a reason folks sell them.

Historically, many that come from e-bay have no transmitter.
They either have lost them or don’t know what they are.
As long as you know, for sure, there are NO PARTS for these, and if it is missing the TX or doesn’t work, there is nothing you can do but see if someone has one in a junkbox.
This has come up countles times on the Bachmann forum, missing TX’s and inop chassis, and there seems to be no resolution.

Thanks for the warning Curmudgeon, I made sure he had the transmitter and the locomotive and it worked. He said it did, but if it doesn’t, I can always return it according to his policy.
I guess he lied to me. I contacted him tonight to find out what happened.
Really though, I am very disapointed, frustrated, and angry, and you posting this just made it worse! Give me a break man. So I screwed up! i’ll find a way to fix it. Maybe it will take a while but don’t give a hard time. I am sure that was not your intention, but I really feel like crap right now.
Sorry if I was rude, really I am, but I am just so frustrated right now. I’ll come back when I’ve calmed down a little bit.
I have both a loco and transmitter that have been sitting unused in a box for about 15 years. I’m willing to part with both (no sense in separating the two items). Email me at raydunakin@aol.com with an offer and we’ll work something out. Don’t worry, I’m not looking to make a lot of money off it, just want to help out a fellow modeler.
I am really sorry! I was just so angry. Please accept my apologies.
The guy said it runs, but I don’t know if its true. I have to get some batteries first, so I will let you know. It does not come with the transmitter or any parts to it at all. The tag on the bottom of the loco says it runs on 27mhz.
