Bachmann Spectrum 50-ton two truck Climax

I do not see anyone else discussing the two truck Climax, so I’ll ask a question: Does anyone have any constructive solutions or suggestions to fix the problem of the drive line slippage on the Bachman Climax?? I have two locos and while one ran for a short while then the drive line fell apart and provides no power to the wheels. The other, fresh out of the box seems to bind up and while the side rods turn, there is no power to the axles. Solutions?? Suggestions??

On the Bachmann site,May 05. 2010 it mentioned that they now have replacement gears for HO Climax. I phoned and talked to them and they have a package with drive shaft and replacement gears.their was no charge.

Is the replacement a re-engineered design that solves the problem, or do we still need to wait for NWSL’s fix?

My Bachmann Climax has an oil-bunker top I assembled from various parts and scraps one evening.
