Bachmann Spectrum C44-9W Road# 8612?

Hi folks,
Recently bought a Bachmann Spectrum Locomotive off of Ebay. It was advertised as a GE 8-40CW and it is road number 8612. According to Don Strack’s C&NW roster info on the Utah Rails website the 8612 is a GE C44-9W. The model even has a decal on the engineers side behind the C&NW logo that reads C44-9W 8612. According to the same roster info the C&NW never owned any GE Dash 8-40CW’s just Dash 8-40C’s. I like the locomotive and am going to use it in my modeling scheme, but was just curious if anyone out there knows if Bachmann advertised this unit as an 8-40CW when it was originally produced?

hi brad, i think the seller has just made a mistake thats all

Bachmann did indeed market those locomotives as C40-8W’s in CNW dash9 paint and numbers. Dispite the obvious mistake (or blatant ignorance of the facts), the models do look good.
