I would like to know if any one has had trouble running Bachman Spectrum HO Steam Loco,s with a dcc decoder, and if you have what did you do to correct it
I have approximately 15 Bachmann Spectrum steam engines ranging from the Shay to Heavy Mountains, and have had no problems with any of them. I have SoundTraxx in most of them.

The only well known issue is with the “silent” running and similar decoders, the EMI suppression filter in the Spectrum locomotives causes a resonance issue with the output circuitry of these decoders, resulting in rather eratic behavior. The solution is to cut at least one lead on each of the capacitors on the Spectrum board. On the ones with inductors as well, the inductors may need to be shorted out as well.
