I want to install an LED headlight in a HO Shay. I can’t figure how to remove the boiler on the thing so I can access the wiring. Has anyone attempted this? I talked to a Bachmann rep at the Worlds Greatest Hobby show last weekend and he didn’t have any idea. I suspect it may be so complicated that it won’t be worth doing.

When Model Railroader reviewed this loco they advised against taking it apart. I got the same advice when I asked Bachmann through their website about dis-assembly to lubricate the inner workings…One poster at that site told me he took one apart but wasn’t able to get it to run right after re-assembly…All in all a great loco but I live with the square lights on mine rather than take them apart…

I did the same thing too took it apart to put different lites in it, and had a heck of a time getting it back together. I was going to do the other one that I own but decided against it.
