bachmann Spectrum USRA 2-10-2 into a DM&IR 2-10-2

The Bachmann Spectrum USRA 2-10-2 is due next month. DM&IR owned some of these. Just wondering if anyone is going to give this engine the full DM&IR treatment with the air tanks mounted on top of the boiler. I have always thought this was a neat look and I am wondering if anyone has checked out how easy this might be. I am thinking I might try this.

You may want to search Cal-Scale and Precision Scale for part you’d need.

Hi Eric: That should be a fairly easy conversion. The air tanks are easy to scratch build or you should be able to find some castings. I’ve got some old Cal Scale castings in one of my parts drawers somewhere. I’m doing a freelance ore hauling railroad in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I assume that you are doing the DM&IR.

I should have taken a look at my copy of DM&IR Locomtives before I said this would be an easy project. I’ll take a look tomorrow and may have to appologise.
