Hey Guys I have the consolidation 2-8-0 Bachmann Steam Loco it has the rapido couplers installed from the factory. Did MR or has anyone here ever changed them to the micro trains couplers or done an article on this. Any info on this is helpfull as I am changing my fleet over to the micro trains couplers. Thanks in advance,
Curt
I’ve seen posts regarding this coupler conversion on the Atlas N Scale Forum, and probably over on TrainBoard N Scale Forum too. You might try searching those two forums. Both of those forums are pretty good for specific N scale information.
Generally the advice has been to use an M-T #2004 body mount coupler on the tender. Requires some filing and/or scraping under the tender to make enough room to mount the draft gear box.
If you want to mount an operating coupler on the pilot, the advice has been to use an M-T #905 Z scale coupler. This requires some surgery to make a hole big enough to insert the draft gear box.

The pilot can be converted with a Micro-Trains® 2004 coupler box and a 1015 coupler. The tender was simple body mount with the 2004.
