Hello everyone
I’m looking for a 2-6-6-2 or a 2-6-6-4 and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the seller Hobbylinc or the Bachman loco? It has DCC and sound.
Comments would be appreciated.

A fellow club member has the original Bachmann 2-6-6-2 that was just DCC ready, and it runs very smoothly and is a good puller. The sound-on-board model has a SoundTraxx Tsunami decoder, which is one of the best, so it should be better than the original.
I have no experience with Hobbylinc and have read no derogatory comments about them on these forums, so they seem to be reputable.

I don’t ever remember anyone complaining about the quality of the Bachman 2-6-6-2. I’ve got one of the first runs–DC only–and it’s a little gem. Smooth runner, fine hauler and very well detailed. In fact, it out-pulls my Proto 2-8-8-2 by a mile.
So I’d certainly recommend it.

Lee, I have three of the Bachmann 2-6-6-2’s, very nice locos. Well detailed and good running.
Mine are the older versions since I don’t use DCC or sound. Two of mine have been refitted with Bachmann long Vandy tenders, really look good.

https://www.hobbylinc.com/index.htm is my first choice when ordering on line. Can’t help with the engine but I do like the store

My Spectrum 2-6-6-2 is one of my very best engines. Easily pulls 32 ore cars and a caboose with no problem at a steady 10-12 MPH. Mine came DC so I added a TCS decoder and later I added an MRC Sounder sound decoder to mine.
However I do have a Spectrum engine (2-10-0) that came with the ‘simplified’ Tsunami sound decoder and it’s a great decoder. Only downside re sound is that unlike say BLI engines, the sound isn’t controlled by a cam or other gizmo so you have to set the CV’s of the Tsunami to get it to match the driver’s rotation - well, unless you want to retrofit a cam system I guess. Setting the CV’s is not hard to do but can be a little time consuming to get just right.
BTW although I think the Tsunami offers this option, the out-of-synch multiple driver sound ‘chuff’ option wouldn’t be right for this engine since it’s a ‘true Mallet’.
I buy a lot from Hobbylinc and have never had a problem.
You may also wish to check out www.micromark.com they also sell the Bachmann 2-6-6-2 although its listed as undec. its quite a bit cheaper for DCC/Sound at $265 as opposed to the $325 at hobbylinc.

Thanks All.
I was hoping to get a good lead on good price. Glad to hear the sellers are OK too.
Happy Railroading.

Thanks CB&Q
I just ordered the 2-6-6-2 from Micromark price was better. [:D] The only thing with micromark is I have the catalog and everything I have priced, in tools, I can buy at Harbor Freight for a fraction of their price and no shipping charges.
Thanks again
