Bachrus Running Stands

I was doing a search today for the Bachman EZ Rollers which I wound up purchasing from my LHS and came across these. They are a little more expensive then the EZ Rollers but seem to be better made.

If you don’t have the pilot &trailing trucks supported with the EZ Rollers the locomotive will tend to wobble. I made a little home made fixture to support the tender by gluing a couple of pieces of wood under a piece of sectional track raising the tender to the same height as the locomotive is when it’s on the rollers. It ain’t pretty but it works.

Was just wondering if anyone has the Bachrus and what do you think of them

Hi,

great topic. I too am interested in one of these but do not know anything about them. Will keep an eye on this post.

Thank you

Frank

I prefer the KPF Zeller rollerstands, but they are very expensive and have to be ordered directly from Germany.

If I only spoke German I could have understood their video…lol impressive piece of equipment but a little pricey. The attractive thing about the Bachrus one’s was that for a few dollars more it seems like a much better system. Do you use yours on HO or N and their vid shows a steam loco running gear but no boiler or tender shell how it it mounting the loco with them in place?

The Bachrus system has a few flaws…

  1. The loco sits very high off the rails (the Zeller stand has the loco slung low)

  2. The ball bearings tend to collect dirt because they are not sealed.

Yes, the ZPF stand is very expensive, but the quality is in a different league. I can handle a Big Boy and have a roller for every axle.

Your really tempting me now I have looked at that thing several times now trying to justify buying it. Ah why let that stand in my way.
