Back at the throttle again!

Well after a almost 5 year absence from Model railroading and model railroader I have rejoined the ranks!!

My old layout is gone and I have had to start fresh from the beginning. Wow have things changed since I was away. Model railroader looks way different than I remember and I had to completely re-register. I have a lot of catching up to do and I have to find some of my old friends on here. I just cant remember what screen name I used back then…

I have started a new layout but is is far more modest that what I was building. So far I have a 4x8 piece of real-estate with the bench work completed enough I was able to lay some track to please the kids with moving trains. I have a Idea of what I am going to model. My plan is to model the CSX Newcastle subdivision going threw Kent Ohio. with the Wheeling and lake Erie branch line that services Kent as well. I figure that will give me the main line and switching all in one. I just have to figure out now how to compress what I want to achieve that goal. Plus I have to find a few structures for the line that are very important for the look and feel of this line. I plan on modeling the modern period so I can use diesel and place a excursion using steam. Plus the CSX line is visit often by BNSF and a few NS trains and the occasional Amtrak train. So many possibilities. But I digress so many things have changed new and better rolling stock, and locos, building techniques and I have to catch up. Tstage if you see this and remember me PM me I have a few questions for you!!

So far I have a 4x8 table build with 1/2 blue foam attached to it and so temporarally placed track. Need to workon a track plan and find a station that would have been one like was used by the old B&O or Erie and lakawana. its the building just above the second and third locomotive. Anyone seen one like it in a kit???

Welcome back. Yes, things tend to change quickly at times when something new comes along, then it rides, then takes another jump. The appearance of the forums has changed some. They occasionally take a weekend and fool with them. Last time went pretty smoothly, time before that was a nightmare, not only for the computer illiterate, like me, but to most. Took them a few days to get things straightened out.

I don’t know how you are at kitbashing/scratch building, but you could try to use the modular sections offered by Walthers and others to make a credible looking station similar to your prototype.

Have fun,

Thank you cowman, I dont have much experience in kitbashing but I like the look of that old station so much I want to try it. I just need to find the kits that will make it happen. I have only ever really built some building in HO the only wood kit I have messed with was a wooden Vert-A-Pak car I built a few years back. But I want to learn.

Good to have another B&O modeler aboard, even though you’re modeling it 50 years after I am.

I was out of the hobby for about 15 years and just got back in. You’ll be glad you did!

Are you modeling HO or N?

I am modeling in HO with modern era equipment.
