Back drop ideas

This modeler needs to add more detail to his layout back drop. Oh wait, [swg] this is a pic by Frank Nolin on Railpic.net

Just having fun. [:-^]

Come on Guys,

I thought at least one person would see the humor in it. We try to make our back drops look real and here’s real, that looks phony. [:-,]

Yes it is true we sometimes can get too worried about doing a super-detailed backdrop, when a fairly simple one can often be quite effective.

I would note that at a different time of day, the hills / mountains in the background of the picture probably do show a lot of detail though…

Here in Vegas, that is kinda what our western skyline looks like in the evening as the sun sets. Obviously, we don’t have the fields in the foreground or as many trees in the background. [(-D]

But we DO have the Stratosphere! Of course it’s on the wrong side of the tracks…

OTOH, I’ve seen similar haze-shrouded ridges on humid days all up and down the Eastern states, not to mention in the area that I model.

A lot of things in this town seem to be on the wrong side of the tracks…[swg] And there’s a lot of people who are clueless that there are tracks that run thru this city. Las Vegas does have a lot of industry a person could model (in the future, I plan on modeling the propane area down the street from Cheyenne & 15)

I had the foresight to photograph my chosen location for backdrop purposes before developement wipped out the cirtus groves.
