back light in B unit

I asked this question some time ago but Soundtraxx is taking sooooo long [|(][tdn] to build its new AT1000 series motor decoders that I have forgotten what I was going to do.

I have an EMD F3 A&B consist that I want to put a rear light in the B unit. I am wondering where it would go? Are there any pictures to show where one would be if that unit had one?

I figure it would be high on the rear bulkhead either left or right of the diaphragm?.. or ?? [^o)]

Varies depending on railroad. This one (an FP9, not an F3B, but you get the idea) has a headlight above the door; I’ve seen other examples of lights mounted beside the door on the end.

The light on the engine above is also likely a later addition. Looking at some photos of CP F-units in a Canadian Pacific diesel book I have, the light is typically mounted halfway up on the right side of the door - and this looks like a portable light mounted on the doorframe in most of the photos. Early photos often clearly show no light there, but close inspection looks like there is a bracket there to mount the portable light on.

Chris - thanks for the picture. That is what I was hoping to see although I am not sure that I have the room to do that with my unit. I like the right side, maybe I will put a hanging light there? Do you have a picture of that? [Y]

Thanks for the CP picutres. That #4443 looks like quite a weathering project! [:-^]
