Baghdad Passenger Trains.....

…Around noon today I was listening to the news and one of the items noted was the Passenger Train service is now operational out of Baghdad to some direction I don’t remember but is running…But what I thought of was: I wonder how much of the effort to do so was funded and made to happen by the forces of the United States…IF it was mostly by our effort my thoughts wondered to how our government is trying to trash our Passenger service in this country…Does something sound wrong here…?

Sounds like the way US aid money went to rebuild bombed-out European rail systems after World War II while here at home we built the interstate freeway system as a “public works” project and posted all the entrances with signs reading “pedestrians, bicycles and non-motorized vehicles prohibited.”

Actually the British got the first trains running in Iraq out of Basra about two weeks ago- note that they have a far better relationship to the population already and aren’t shooting up civilians all the time.

…And what would the British do if the civilians shot at them? They’re pretty tough, too. I doubt they’d go sip high tea in the tavern car.

…More power to any nation that is willing to help restore service of any kind in Irag…My original thought was how in this country our Administration is REALLY trying to trash our passenger rail system and seems we are pulling out all stops over there to make someone else’s work…Probably with quite a bit of our tax money.
