Ballast on CNW's line to Rapid City, S.D.

To the extent that CNW laid much ballast on its South Dakota lines, such as Pierre-Rapid City (pre-DM&E), did the company use the same famous pink rock ballast as was used on its main lines in Illinois, Wisconsin, etc.?

I’m putting together a manifest freight representative of the latter 1960s on that route, and thought that I could add a couple of MW ballast hoppers with the appropriate load.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Gidday, don’t know if these help…

Cheers, the Bear.

From the look of those photos on the links that JaBear provided, I would say that the ballast is the same product put down by the C&NW on its Illinois mainlines.
