Hi everyone, I was wondering on my new layout if i ballested the tracks the engines would suck it up. a freind told me this is he right? what are your experencies. thanks Tim P.S My scale is N [:D]
Nope. Today’s ballast is non-magnetic, so no worries about the engines sucking up. And, after it’s glued down, very little will suck it up.
Nick
Nick said it. Woodland scenics is probably a good bet.
Oh wait, N Scale? Since I pay attention to G and HO only(Usually), does Woodland Scenics make N Scale stuff…?
Iagree with the above i’ve used ballast on all my N layouts and found no probs.
I dont know how experienced you are so Iappoligise in advance. When Iglue my ballast I USE 50% PVA Glue 50% water with a dash of washingup liquid seems to
to work for me
Oh Yeh! They make a lot of stuff for Nearly Invisible Scale. I would think the fine “fine” sized ballast would work well for “N”.
sUGGEST YOU GO TO MY PROFILE AND LOOK THROUGH THE ENDLESS POSTS ON BALLAST… never known glued ballast suck up… what speed are your trains doing???
After I put in ballast and scrape off the pieces that accidentally ended up stuck to the rails or the top of the ties, I take a vacuum cleaner to the tracks, with one of those narrow nozzle-things on it. That gets rid of all the loose stuff.
[#ditto][#ditto]Always worked for me [#ditto][#ditto]
Yeah,no problems,as long as you glue it down.I use rubbing alcohol instead of soap, maybe 20% or so with the water,it works great with glueing down pretty much anything, and it dries faster. That glue that Woodland Scenics makes is GREAT stuff too, can’t think of the name of it now. It dries with a flat finish, like you dullcoated it,I use that a lot.
thanks for the info everyone. i think i will ballast the track.[:D] Tim
