BAM!!! Where did that come from?

Ever have this happen to you?

Just walking down into the basement to do some more work on the layout after taking a short break and BAM! You see this beautiful section of completed layout. For me it was the South West corner approx 1 foot by 4 feet. You think to yourself “Where’d that come from?” Seems you got so lost in what you were doing that 5 hours had passed by![:p] This happened to me on Saturday. I couldn’t help but smile to myself. There’s a real satisfaction in this hobby and knowing you’ve gotten so relaxed and into what you’re doing that time stops.

I love this hobby,
Trevor[:)]

I cant wait for that feeling, I just started laying some cork today and can,t wait to put down that first piece of track.

Hi Roadrat,

I’ve only been working on my layout since Newyear’s Day. No kidding…that’s when I started. Hangover and all![:p] It’s not so long ago that I laid my cork roadbed. I found that that’s when you most feel like you’re doing model railroading (so far anyway). It’s all about the tracks right[:)]

Welcome to the hobby.

Know the feeling. A couple of days ago I scened a long section along the track and did some new things. Came out great. Well, work and life, I didnt get into the garage for awhile. Went out there yesterday and lookde dove,r kinda half forgot ( I was pretty tired when I did it) and …Wham , it was more of wham than a Bam… I was like “Oh yeah! Wow…”… Good feeling.

Saturday after a quick trip to the art store for some wood and cardboard tubeing I spent a few hours putting together a mockup of a grain elevator I want to put on my layout. The model is rough, I don’t like the proportions, nothing is painted but I did get a reall kick out of seeing it come together. Best of all…no one who has seen it has had to ask what it is.

I am pre-building my layout in computer software where I need to get the complicated tracks down as close as I can where I want them.
I get the plan down rough, tweak it around, and it finally looks…cool.
When it transfers to the real thing, it should be excellent.
