Expand, higher gas prices, and a higher population will put BART back on track…,in maybe 40 yrs.
They haven’t figured out parking at the stops. It’s at capacity in many places limiting ridership and creating a bad experience. I know a lot more people would take it if they figured out a shuttle system. Maybe a collaboration w Über? It’s just obvious they aren’t thinking outside the BART here.
And it’s not just BART. They highways are a mess with exits right near mergers of main arteries. People want to cross 5 lanes to get off. And there’s a rediculous lane dedicated to carpools that it’s own single lane bridge overpass to the city. But people who use that carpool lane aren’t all going into the city. So they have to cross out at the last minute over to other lanes because it all happens at one big cloverleaf interchange. Absolutely rediculous. There’s a serious lack of planning technology and expertise.
A friend of mine commutes on BART from concord. Trains are packed. No seats. Poor experience. Why is this acceptable? And how is it not profitable?. I think someone in a prior article mentioned the custom equipment required. Oops.
Bart’s “Work Less, More Money, or stop the trains” union is a big part of the problem."
I think the above a great comments. Maybe BART should hold an open forum town meeting to discuss all the issues.
