I thought this was an interesting article about the relationship between the growth of baseball in the 19th century, and the growth in streetcars at the same time. I wonder how many folks know the Los Angeles Dodgers were once the Brooklyn Trolley-Dodgers??

It’s interesting too that it’s kinda gone full circle - as a Twin Cities resident, I’ve been using the Hiawatha light rail line to get to Twins games since the line opened, and the new Twins stadium (Target Field) is located at the junction of the light rail line and the new Northstar heavy commuter line. The old Minneapolis Millers’ minor league field, Nicollet Park, was served by streetcar and in fact was across the street from one of the major car barns of the Twin City Lines.
