basement layout

Any thoughts regarding the distance a layout should be from the foundation wall? I’m using multiple 4x8’ tables bolted together in an L shape. I don’t want to go against the walls tight so I can move about the layout. Doing it this way for future house move.
Thanks to all.

[#welcome] Charlie to the forum !! I would think if you don’t want your layout tight against the wall, then you may want to leave a comfortable amount of space to walk back there & to get up & out from underneath the layout when working under it back there. I would think at least 2 feet would be enough, & maybe less. Hope this helps !
Thanks,

Absolute minimum for access only - 18 inches.
Minimum for observation and operation - 24 inches
Better - 30 inches plus.

I would go with at leat 2 feet also. If you have folding table or something similar, you might want to just test it out and see what’s comfortable for you.

Welcome to the forum Charlie. The distance depends on how much girth the largest person expected to get back there has. Witha previous layout I had 22" but could barely move or slip down below the board.

You could use castors or wheels on the legs and move it out when needed.

Welcome to the forum, Charlie. I’m also in Massachusetts.

My layout is roughly 15-18" from the wall. That lets me slide in back to clean track, vaccum, etc.

The size of the distance from the wall to your layout is optional. I would say you make it 1 inch wider than your belly.
