A buddie of mine got me interested in Royal American Shows trains… he toured with them in 1950 & 1951. I found a set and a couple extras… E-BAYING… If anyone has leads on any royal american shows items let me know…I am looking for flat cars and maybe “carnival ride” items I can take apart and “rack” on the flat cars.
Pics comming soon I promise!

Royal American Shows came to western Canada each summer until 1973 or so and each year it always seemed my parents would tell the same story. When my father was the CPR Station Agent at Hatton SK., about halfway between Regina SK and Calgary AB between 1954 and 1956 they would pass through in about 3 sections. Once, when one of these trains came through at about 60 or 70 MPH on a hot sunny day, essentially out in the middle of nowhere, they both saw about a dozen of those Carnie’s shooting craps out of the wind on one of the equipment flat cars! They always used to comment that those guys were some extremely tough looking hombres. My Dad figured they had had years of practice and there sure wasn’t anybody about to tell them they couldn’t do it! I am happy to see RAS mentioned on this forum.
