Bashing Cornerstone kits...

Has anyone had experience of carving up Walthers structue kits to make other buildings please?

I’m particularly wondering about how to cut up the glazing clear plastic effectively?

TIA

I had to cut some if the plastic glazing on the Hardwood Furnature background kit to make it fit. I used an X-Axto miter box and saw. The key is measure twice and cut once. The glazing is hard and brittle plastic - not anything like typical styrene.

So do you do cuts where the edge profile of the cut edge is straight, or cuts where the edge profile of the cut edge is slanted at e.g. 45 degrees (ie somewhat like the edge profiles along the corners of the cornerstone buildings look like) ?

My particular concern is that the glazing is a very hard, maybe brittle, plastic. i wanted to know how people got on with cutting it without cracking or shattering it? I don’t want those particular buildings to look vanadalised…

I save all the clear plastic that comes with locos and cars packageing, for window glazing. Who cares if it’s hard or flexible. You can cut the thin stuff with a scissors.

Sometimes I do away with their window glazing entirely and use my own. You know that clear packaging at Wal-Mart that you almost have to demolish to open? I cut that up into the appropriate sized pieces and use it. Works great!
