Basic Layout - Grain Elevators & feed mills

I am trying to get track layout ideas that are simular to my community in which is agricultural (northern Indiana flat landscapes). If anyone who has their layout for farming with grain elevators & feedmills with photos, please let me know. I have looked back in past MR issues & couldn’t find anything that I wi***o design for my area.

Please e-mail me at scott_jg24@hotmail.com

Scott, search the magazine data base on this website for David Barrow or for Cat Mountain and Santa Fe or CT&SF. David’s famous Cat Mountain (the former layout) was a west Texas grain hauler. The current layout is based on switching at Lubbock, Texas, which would include a lot of grain service since Lubbock is primarily an agricultural area. You might also see if your public library has the Allen Keller Great Model Railroad video tape series. One of the earlier ones is all about the Cat Mountain & Santa Fe.

Andy, if you’re monitoring this please jump in.

Good Luck,

Ed

Check out http://www.bnsf.com/business/agcom/elevator/elevdir.html It shows a lot of prototype grain elevators and plant layouts.

Scott,

I will also be modeling a grainger layout set in the north central Illinois rural area.
