BBC radio programme on modern steam locomotive design

Just listening to BBC Radio 4 last night and caught a few minutes of this 30 minute programme (a link to the ‘Listen again’ version) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio4/aod.shtml?radio4/steamdriven

Quote from the programme description “It’s almost 40 years since steam disappeared from widespread use on the railways, but the development of steam locomotives has never stopped.”

Bah, as much as I want to listen to this, I WILL NOT use Real Player.

Why can’t they use MP3 or WMA for audio playback?

Thanks for the tip. Interesting program. Of course, any large scale return to steam power for railroad use is fantasy. Advances in steam technology have greatly benefited stationary sources.

BTW, BBC4 has hundreds of science and technology programs which are largely free from political hysteria and available for listening online for free.

That’s why I use Real Alternative - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm - this has browser plug-in’s etc so works like Real Player within a web browser.
