Pulled the BEEP down off the shelf in preparation for halloween, MR black & orange, but lo & behold the traction tire is broken. Anybody have any quick & easy tips for installing a new one ? There is virtually no clearance between the wheel and the side frame to slip a new one down thru.
May have to take the top off and take the motor out and seperate it from the truck and drop the truck assembly in order to access the wheels, at least that is what you would do for a Williams loco.

I’VE HEARD OF PEOPLE PUTTING A THIN RUBBER BAND HELD ON BY A DROP OF AC.
Sometime back on the other forum there was a suggestion from some who used clear silicone, claimed it worked good. I have not tried it. Just repeating what I read.
One time on my MPC Budd cars, I cut about 10thousandths of an inch off one end of the old tire & CA glued it back on ! It held for a long time & I got new ones & then changed that one too, but it can work if you’re in a pinch !!

Did you have to tear it apart to put the new one on ? I haven’t tried it, my paper clip trick, it just don’t look like there is enuff room.[:(]
Doug : no, I had enough room !! I took the truck off the car is all, that made it easier. Your eng. probably has less room than mine .

Doug, Its cumbersome, but I have had success with fishing line. Quite a bit smaller than paper clip and even more flexible.
New tire on !
Used one I got from Lionel for my C-420, perfect fit. It went on, surprisingly, really really easy with the paperclip. The only thing that mite have been easier would have been a steamer without siderods.
Now , on to halloween.
