beginner wondering about types of track and european trains

hi all am wanting to build a train layout, I hope to have both us and european trains (I know not accurate) I read there were 2 kinds of HO track, is it possible to do this, I want to run 3 trains, US passenger and european pass and military, I have an area in my basement and I hope to make a 2 level scene with a helix to the top

Whether or not you can use the same track for European and US trains depends on whether or not the European equipment is designed for 2 rail DC current or 3 rail AC (e.g. Maerklin). If it’s 2 rail DC, you should be able to use the same track as long as you stick with code 83 or code 100.

hi, thanks for the reply, the locomotives I am looking at are from Brawa and Liliput, I currently only actaully have 2 locomotives, the Turbotrain and a Rivarossi set that I plan on selling to pay for the others, soa s long as it says DC on it I should be ok?
