Below are some photos of a bench sander I picked up about two years ago. It is 4 inches in diameter with sticky back pads. I use it for trimming up wood, styrene pieces, plus occasional grinding a frame.
It cost me about $25.00 but I cannot find it sold anywhere now. I do know I found it on line, ebay or a on line shop.
Harbor Freight has a combo 1 inch belt sander/5 inch rotary sander for $70.00. My brother picked one up some time ago for a little less. Good for hobby use.
My 4 inch rotary sander was bought new for $25.00.
At my old job one of the machinist bought one similar to that for some ridiculous amount of money like $500 a coworker purchased the one form Micormark for around $100 and it actually was a nicer unit. You did good for $25
I have one very similar to that. Mine was sold by a company that specialized in tools for model airplane modelers. That I what I got mine for. Sanding balsa wood doesn’t take a lot of power.
