Finished about half of benchwork today…Raining outside all day… Cut the 2X3 legs extra long so I can evaluate the actual later and trim to size…My levelerers arrived so I’ll build in once the length of posts is determined… Anxious to do rest, but will probably wait till Monday.
Hi jjo,
Congratulations on making progress. Any pictures?
Dave
Congrtatulations on the progress.
As Dave said, pictures would be nice to see.

Pictures are a challenge for me here…I’ll try to break the code and learn the system and post later…thanks
Hi jjo,
Here is an explanation of how to post pictures to the forums:
-
Load your pictures onto your computer.
-
Start writing your post in the forums. When you get to the point where you want to insert a photo, place your cursor where you want the photo to appear and then open a second browser window.
-
In the second window go to your photo hosting site. I use Imgur and Photobucket. Imgur is easier and it’s free:
-
Transfer your picture(s) to the photo hosting site. In Imgur, click on your name and then click on ‘Images’ in the drop down menu. You will see an option to ‘Add Images’. Click on that and then click on ‘Browse’. That will take you back to your computer files. Locate the desired image and double click on it. The image should appear on the Imgur screen.
-
Click on the image. That will bring up a menu on the right side of the page. Click on ‘Copy’ beside the ‘Direct Link’ option.
-
Go back to the window where the forum post is. At the top of the post window there is an icon that looks like a mountain with the sun above it. Click on that.
-
In the pop up window right click in the box beside ‘Source’ and select ‘Paste’ and then ‘OK’. The image should appear in your post.
It sounds complex but it really isn’t. Once you have done it a couple of times it’s easy.

Flickr is easy to catch on to, as well.
The beginner plan in Photo Bucket no longer supports image hosting [|(], and I’m trying to get them to give me credit, if I up grade to the intermediate plan, but of course, because of the virus, they are short handed and haven’t responded yet.
I’ve been moving things over to Flickr.
Mike.
Hi Mike,
I gave Photobucket the benefit of the doubt and stayed with them through all the crap. However, my patience is wearing thin because they seem to suffer constant service interuptions and I find their newer format less friendly to use. Sometime soon I’m going to transfer all of my PB images to Imgur. I just hope that Imgur doesn’t go sour like Photobucket did.
Dave
And I’m hoping the same with Flickr! [(-D]
Mike.
Dave, thank you…I guess I’m spoiled with “dropbox”…So easy to work with. Eventually, I’ll figure this out…For now, I have too many “spinning plates”… Thanks
Completed the major top part of benchwork (joists, frameworks etc) today and letting glue dry overnight…Moving forward,[:)]
Hi jjo,
Dropbox will work fine for posting pictures to the forums. Just right click on your photo in Dropbox and select ‘Copy image address’. Then go to your post and put your cursor where you want the photo to appear. Then left click on the icon above the post that looks like a mountain with the sun above it. Put your cursor in the top box and right click and select ‘paste’ and then OK. The image should appear.

I have all my JMRI roster files on Dropbox. Any decoder update I make on the shop test-track is automatically accessible from any other computer, including the one at the layout, and vice-versa.
Anyone involved in taking DCC engines to a club would find this handy, too, as you can easily access any of your engines in the JMRI roster. Perfect!
Regards, Ed
Thank you for the tips on Dropbox…I like the “ease of use” but having issues adapti
ng to MR forums…Thanks
I store my online photos at an account on imgbb.com. Easy to upload and use in posts to the forum.
Next issue will be to decide on height of layout…Tending towards between 38" and 42"…48" seems too high for me. Reminding myself that ease of access is key both top and underneath…Also type of chair used…Oh well… Moving toward the finale.
That was a test…Dropbox does work here…Need to make pic smaller though…Thnks
jjo
Prepairing the post, the picture looks gigantic. That’s just the norm, it shows up perfect size after you post it.

Dropbox doesn’t always (or often) work here, perhaps depending on the permissions you have set in Dropbox. The Original Poster may be able to see it, but it may be that no one else can. I can’t.
Trainboard Railimages always works, as do imgur, etc.
jjo,
Sorry if I mislead you about Dropbox. I haven’t used it for quite some time.
I used to use Photobucket and I still have an account, but I don’t post any new pictures to it because it seems to foul up regularly. My go to photo host these days is Imgur.
