Hello I’ve read every book and forum post I can find about benchwork but I need specific feedback… I already have a 4’x8’ layout roughed out but I paused construction because it was too small and I have a large free space in my basement So I’m making a couple of 8’ long modules and a couple of 4’ modules to ultimately form a 12’x12’ square including the 4x8 with space in the center of 6’x8’ For my 24" deep modules I’m using nice 3/4" plywood and I’d rather use 2"x2" or 2"x4" lumber because that’s what I’m used to building benches out of… Looking for any and all suggestions… Thank you Matthew

Svein, yes sections and modules are pretty interchangeable descriptions to me
i don’t have a table saw anymore just a really good mitre saw with a stand so I was kinda trying to avoid ripping plywood but I can easily do 1x4’s
did you glue and screw or just screwed the plywood down?
And what did you use for legs?
thank you
matthew
There’s an article under HOW TO above, that includes several types of construction. I haven’t looked at it recently, so don’t remember all that is in it. I do know that many articles use 1x3 and 1x4 lumber for framing. For legs they often use two of them in an L, then run an angle brace in each direction. They often both glue and screw in the videos I have seen.
Good luck,
Richard
